The Toronto Real Estate Board released the mid August 2009 statistics for the Greater Toronto Area. The number of sales to date was 3,832 in the first half of the month compared to 3,019 in mid-August of 2008, representing a 27% increase. The average price for the GTA was $373,844 mid-August of last year compared to $383,796 this year.
In the Central District of Toronto, the average price was $391,252 compared to $394,563 last year. The number of sales to date was 1,465 compared to 1,192 in mid-August of 2008. The year-to-date total sales are up slightly compared to last year with the average price down less than 1%.
