Staging on a Budget

One of the most important steps you must take when selling your house is staging. The concept of staging as many of you might know is that you are making your house into a place a buyer can walk into, and imagine them living in.

Staging can become quite expensive, especially if you decide to hire a professional stager or decide to buy new furniture to place around your home.

Staging can be done inexpensively if you take the time to properly assess your home, and what really needs to be done to it.

You will always find yourself having too much in your home once you are ready to put it up for sale. You should be going through your personal belongings and finding what you can put away for now, until you move into your new home.

If by chance you have already purchased your new home, and closed it already, start moving your belongings into it.

When you do pack your belongings in boxes, do not leave them lying in a corner, put them away safely at a family of friend’s home, and if you can afford it, put it them in a storage unit.

Do not give the buyer the impression your home cannot neatly store items.

Removing a piece of furniture or two can greatly increase the amount of space in any room. Create the image of more space, and you will entice a buyer further as they will be able to imaging what they could do with the space.

Painting is always a great cost effective method of staging. It does not cost much to buy paint, and you can save further by doing it yourself. When you add a fresh coat of paint, you will be giving the room a fresh look, making it look like new.

When staging, always look for where you can add color to a room. To add color, you simply need to put in some greenery.

To save on having to re-purchase fresh flowers every week or few days, buy plastic flowers. They will look great in any room, and realistic to the buyer, giving the effect you need,

To further stage your home without spending too much, you can rearrange the furniture in a room to do so. Take the time to move the furniture and you will find yourself with a new design, and it might just be the one that the buyer likes.

With this bit of advice, I wish you good luck on staging your home, and who knows your buyer might just walk in today.
