Many elementary and high school children are rejoicing in the upcoming March Break, but what does that mean for you?
Whether you’re trying to figure out how to entertain them for an entire week, or find someone to watch your children while you are at work, it can be someone stressful for parents.
Here are 5 fun ways for your children to spend during the March Break:
1. Day Camps
Recreation and Parks offers both half and full day March Break camps for children aged 3 to 14 for entire week! There are many different activities tailored to the needs and wants of each child. This includes activities such as swimming, dance, drama, basketball, hockey, etc!
Each program is priced differently because of the different requirements of each particular program, so it is best to visit the city of Toronto website by clicking here (www.toronto.ca/parks/index.htm) or the Mississauga website by clicking here (www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/marchbreak) for more information.
2. Mad Science!
Mad Science camps are a fun and interactive way to allow your children to learn about what science is and how much fun it can be. The camps are full day camps where your children can learn about everything from cameras to chemical reactions! Mad Science offers different locations across the GTA, so please visit here (www.madscience.org/locations/toronto/marchbreakcamps.aspx?sm=12015) for more information.
3. Nature Camp
This is great for the outdoor enthusiast and their kids! The Humber Arboretum is offering a great March Break Nature Camp for children of all ages. Activities include arts & crafts, chickadee feeding, snowshoeing, maple syrup harvesting and more. One advantage is that in addition to the full day camps they offer, they also have ‘before and after care’, which is useful for the parents who don’t have flexible schedules. For more information, please click here (www.humberarboretum.on.ca/marBr.htm).
4. March Breakout Music Camp
If your child is more musically inclined, this might be a great alternative for him or her! At the Breakout Music Camp, participants will learn how to write and compose their own music, get advice from professionals in the industry, and even have recording sessions to record the songs that they want. As a nice compliment to the very productive week, students perform for families and friends to showcase the music they have produced! 5. World of Circus
If you want your kids going to all their friends and bragging about the awesome March Break they had, one unique camp that is being offered includes…the circus!? At the Wonderful Word of Circus, children of different ages can participate in juggling, acrobatics, trampoline, dance, games, outdoor activities and much more! They even offer a discount when you register more than one child. For more information, please click here (www.wonderfulworldofcircus.com/s_camps.html).
Try and allow your children to be involved in the decision process with whatever you do. Regardless of what you decide to do for March Break, enjoy it and be safe!!!
