Margaret Atwood revisits Bennington Heights

On Wednesday May 4th 2011, the past and the present of Bennington Heights Public School collided at an event titled, “The Best of Bennington”. This event was in support of improving Bennington Heights Public School’s Library. Diti Dumas, of Royal LePage R.E.S. Ltd. – Johnston and Daniel Division was the “Presenting Sponsor” of this incredible fundraiser which saw Margaret Atwood as the Honorary Chair of the evening (picture includes Diti Dumas (real estate sales representative), journalist – Morgan Dumas, and Margaret Atwood).  The event was a tribute not only to the past of this amazing school, but also to the present and future.

With a Mad Men theme, guests were decked out for the occasion and mingled to the sounds of Frank Sinatra as they bid on amazing silent and live auction items. The highlight of the event was listening to Margaret Atwood as she chronicled the very first day Bennington Heights Public School opened its door. It was an evening like no other, and each guest felt a sense of honor and pride to be participating in such a magnificent evening. In celebration of the event and the funds raised, Bennington Heights Public School will be naming their Library after Margaret Atwood who was one of the first students of Bennington Heights Public School when it opened in 1950!
